Another bend in the road

It's been a quiet few months around here at "Adventures in Heels" headquarters. The world is opening up again and we are all adjusting to our "new normal." I hope this message finds you well, and you are enjoying these last few weeks of spring!

Earlier this year, I posted a video on my Instagram with an update on the timeline for the new podcast and a heartfelt message about needing some extra time so I could focus on my mental and physical health. And that has been my main concentration over these last few months. Other than having my nose to the grindstone in my business doing a lot of speaking at virtual conferences, I refocused all of my energies on feeling better, getting stronger, and rising back up.

My goal was to take some extra time for quiet to ideate on the podcast, my blog, and social media content and come back as quickly as possible with a new show and a ton of new content. Not long after that update, I was hit with another more serious roadblock.

Last year, I was given conflicting information from two doctors about a nodule I've had on my thyroid since 2015. One doctor was positive it was cancer and immediately scheduled me for surgery. After getting a second opinion, I was told it would be OK to monitor its size with regular ultrasounds and bloodwork to keep from having to go through surgery.

Two weeks ago, I was urged by a new specialist to reconsider surgery. I've had two biopsies and did genomic testing on the last biopsy sample, and their diagnosis was that it is too risky for me to continue to go the conservative route with routine monitoring.

Given scheduling between my business meetings, speaking engagements, and travel, I am working with a surgical oncologist to schedule surgery sometime in mid-August. Therefore, I have decided to put the podcast on hold indefinitely until I recover from the physical and emotional effects of everything. This doesn't mean I won't be posting or emailing...I am still hoping to get back to that soon. In the meantime, Herschel and I are escaping to the Caribbean for a much-needed vacation (yay, vaccine!).

I truly feel that all this time of quiet and focused energy around my health has been preparing me for the journey ahead, and I appreciate all of the support you've given me these many weeks. Having you in my tribe means the world to me.

I wish you the happiest summer ever. You deserve it. Sending you so much love.

Xoxo,

Amanda
