My favorite things: February edition

Living an effervescent life is about actively choosing the life you want to have - from the big goals all the way down to choosing joy and things you love each day.  Here is my monthly roundup of favorites from books and movies to podcasts and articles, and so much more. Each month will be different as inspiration strikes.

  • 🎙 In addition to hosting my own podcast, I LOVE listening to them! Here is a list of the 21 best business podcasts for entrepreneurs in 2021.

  • 🎼 What do Mozart and Billie Eilish have in common? Regardless if you've watched Netflix's new binge-worthy series Bridgerton yet, the soundtrack is unreal. If you love classical AND top 40, this playlist is a delicious and beautiful combination of the early 1800s and 2020s hits.

  • 👩🏼‍🏫 Online learning about topics you’ve always wanted to know more about has never been easier than with Masterclass. Herschel and I enrolled for a 2021 membership and have been enjoying James Suckling's class on Wine Appreciation.  There are hundreds of classes from which to choose on a huge variety of professional and personal topics. Who doesn’t want to learn comedy from Steve Martin himself?

  • ❤️ The perfect Valentine’s date idea! If you're finding yourself in desperate need of culture and the arts, check out the Paris National Opera’s new series for limited-time broadcasts of its most popular performances. Now through February 21, you can enjoy The Magic Flute from the comfort of your own sofa. Grab a bottle of your favorite bubbly and a charcuterie platter and it’s literally the most perfect evening.

  • 🍝 We have been doing a LOT of cooking in my household since the pandemic…even more now that my stepdaughter Brooke has moved in with us for a few months. One or two Sundays a month, we make a big Italian dinner complete with Dean Martin and Pavarotti on the Sonos as we slave away in the kitchen on our labor of love. Here are our go-to recipes for Sunday Italian Suppers in my house:

    • Big Italian Salad - literally, I make it every time we have Italian dinner - and when big gatherings were a thing, I was asked for this recipe over and over again. You will not be disappointed.

    • What’s more fun than getting your fingers and countertops all messy? Making homemade pasta is so fun and simple, but it’s also waaaaaay better than the dried stuff. You’ll thank me later.
